2. Overnight Crème Brûlée French Toast Directions
- In a small saucepan, combine applesauce, stevia, and sugar-free syrup, stirring until smooth. Pour this mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Arrange the bread slices in a single layer over the applesauce mixture. Cut the bread to fit if necessary.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, almond milk, vanilla extract, orange extract (if u< sing), and salt until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread slices. Gently press down on the bread so it absorbs the custard.
- Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight or for at least 8 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the plastic wrap from the baking dish and let it sit at room temperature while the oven preheats.
- Bake the French toast in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Optionally, sprinkle stevia over the top and use a kitchen torch to caramelize until golden and crisp.
