- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, whole wheat flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the Stevia, unsweetened applesauce, egg whites, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- If the batter seems too thick, add 1/4 cup of water. The batter should be thick but spreadable.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes. Check for doneness at the 20-minute mark by inserting a toothpick into the center—there should be a few moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, cut the brownies into 9 squares.
